Program Description

The Washington Media Institute (WMI) offers a full course load and internship in one of Washington DC’s best media organizations.

The wide range of internship opportunities, along with WMI’s personalized approach to the placement process, sets WMI apart and allows students to gain invaluable career experience.

In addition to their internships, participants are provided with another platform for experiential learning through WMI’s academic courses. The courses are taught by WMI faculty and media professionals who bring their unique experiences and skills to the classroom. While courses change each semester to incorporate pressing news and evolving technology, it is always certain that the information is taught in engaging, hands-on and innovative ways.

One of the leading components of the WMI program, and a large factor in the success of WMI alumni, is the extensive amount of networking opportunities facilitated by WMI’s Director, faculty and guest speakers. Participants network weekly with seasoned Washington professionals through site visits and guest lecturers, giving students the chance to build their base of professional contacts.
