Program Description

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institution. Promoting intercultural exchange, GI offers opportunities to learn about the language, culture, politics, and society. Lessons are taught exclusively in German with a maximum of 16 participants per session, and run Monday – Friday every week. Students choose from a variety of program lengths ranging from two – eight weeks per session depending on the season.

Located in the historical center of Berlin, the institute is equipped with classrooms, computer and internet access, a break room, a relaxing courtyard, and a restaurant on the first floor.

Housing with select host families includes a fully furnished room, bedding, use of television or phone by permission, and shared bathroom and kitchen. Apartments may be available upon request. Meals can be purchased at a plethora of restaurants near the school, and local universities also offer inexpensive meals.

Goethe-Institut Berlin is situated in the Berlin Mitte district, near Hackesche Höfe, the thriving cluster of courtyards bordered by offices, apartments, galleries, workshops, cafés and shopping, intermeshing the worlds of work, the arts, living, culture, dining and entertainment. The Weinmeisterstrasse underground train station is right outside the door of the institute, and the Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station is a four-minute walk.
